We are the Johnson County Democratic Women, North and South.

We are sister organizations, working together to engage women in politics and help get Democrats in Johnson County elected.

North Meeting

Happy April! Spring is in the air! We are excited about the 30 minute documentary we will be showing at our North JCDW meeting: Strangers in Town, a film about immigration in Garden City, Kansas. We are counting on an informative discussion afterwards. Please join us!

 South Meeting

Our April speakers are Lindsey Constance and Mike Kelly, who will be speaking about the Kansas Green Initiative. To read more about the Kansas City area coalition that is working to combat climate change, go HERE.

A lifelong Johnson County resident, Mike was elected Mayor of Roeland Park on November 7, 2017, and began his term on January 8, 2018. Before being elected Mayor, Mike served as the Chairman of both the Roeland Park Sustainability Committee and the Community Foundation Advisory Board. Mike and his wife, Elizabeth, welcomed their daughter Virginia to Roeland Park in August 2017. The Kelly family live on Roeland Drive with their dog, Margot

 

 

Lindsey Constance

Lindsey Constance is an Instructional Coach for the Shawnee Mission School District, where she works with teachers and administrators to create the best possible educational experience for students. She was               awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching in 2012. Lindsey earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education, a Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and a Masters in             Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas. She graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School.

Lindsey Constance was sworn into office as Ward 4 Councilmember on January 8, 2018.

Going to meetings is a great way to meet like minded friends, get new and important information, and meet the leaders in our community who are making a difference! And, it’s just really fun! Please join us!

Asian Festival 2019

 

 

We will again have a table at the Asian Festival, held on April 20th at the Overland Park Convention Center. Come by and see us! The November 2019 election is coming, have you joined JCDW yet?

KFDW 66th Annual Convention

The women of the Kansas 3rd Congressional District will be hosting the Kansas Federation of Democratic Women’s 66th Annual Convention! Save the weekend for June 21-23. The convention will be held at the Olathe Hilton Garden Inn.
